Photo Descriptions

Mother With Children - This mother and her two children were photographed in the tent village of Dayala in the Northwest Frontier Province.

Crushed Ambulance - As you look closer at this image, you'll see that there are several ambulances crushed under the rear of the Muzaffarabad hospital. The building collapsed, killing doctors, patients and nurses. Today, a tent hospital exists in front of this destroyed structure.

Man from Muzaffarabad - This man was photographed in Muzaffarabad, the epicenter of the earthquake. At the time of our visit, the city was still in the grip of winter.

Girl In Shawl - This lovely girl was photographed in Muzaffarabad on a rainy day.

Tent & Grave - This eerie photograph shows a family's temporary housing immediately adjacent to a grave marker of a loved one. It was taken in Muzaffarabad.

Boy With Umbrella - This boy was photographed near Hilcote, about a one hour drive from Mansera.

Three Kids Playing - These charming girls were photographed while playing the rubble in Muzaffarabad.

Barefoot Boy - This young boy was photographed in the tent village of Dayala.

Tent Village At Epicenter - This tent village is on the outskirts of Muzaffarabad. The mountainside in the background was literally ripped in half and shows the sheer power of the earthquake.

Smiling Man - This man was photographed at a food distribution site coordinated by Relief International. Since the earthquake, any people in the decimated city rely on Relief International and other aid organizations for basic supplies such as flour and cooking oil.

Destroyed Mosque - This mosque is just one of hundreds of structures decimated by the earthquake in the village of Hilcote.

Two Girls & School - These two girls are standing in front of the rubble that was once their school house. The all-girls school had 450 students. 326 students were killed in the earthquake.

Collapsed Building - This is just one of thousands of buildings in the quake zone that have yet to fall over completely. Virtually every home or building that still stands has suffered irreparable structural damage.

Family In Tent - Approximately 3 million people were displaced by the earthquake. It hit hardest in the Northwest Frontier Province and Azad Kashmir Province. This family is just one of the many whose homes are no longer habitable. They rely on Relief International and various other aid organizations to assist with the most basic of needs.

Tent Village at Dayala - This tent village is one of hundreds spread across more than 30,000 square miles of earthquake damaged terrain. Relief International provides basic resources for the area including food, emergency shelter, doctors and medical supplies.

Discarded Medical Supplies & Beds - This heap of twisted metal represents just a fraction of the broken beds and equipment from the Muzaffarabad Hospital.

Girl Sweeping - This young girl is sweeping the space in front of her family's tent.
