The
Duncan Group, Crouse Entertainment Group and WOSU-TV are pleased
to announce the completion of Beyond The Gridiron - The Life
& Times of Woody Hayes. Airing nation-wide on public
television in the fall of 2004.
Woody
Hayes enjoyed a long and acclaimed career as the head
football coach of the Ohio State University Buckeyes.
This biographical account will provide in-depth look
at Hayes' life as well as the times by which he was
influenced with special emphasis on World War II,
the Vietnam War and the Civil Rights Movement. We'll
look at how his early years growing up in Ohio shaped
his values and how his time in the military influenced
his on-field strategies while coaching at Denison,
Miami of Ohio, and Ohio State University. We'll provide
in-depth coverage of the most important OSU games
and players as well as the ways in which players were
influenced by Hayes in both their football and professional
lives.
Hayes'
life and career have been chronicled in numerous print documentaries.
BEYOND THE GRIDIRON - The Life & Times of Woody Hayes
marks the first time his story has been told to a nationwide
public television audience in America. The production will
feature interviews with many of his most acclaimed players
and colleagues as well as sports writers and biographers who
covered him during the football dynasty he ruled while at
OSU.
